Abstract:
The study examined the degree of unstable academic calendar in Nigerian universities and their effects on university activities, such as, senate activities, university budget, convocation and matriculation and students' academic performance. The subjects of the study consisted of 100 lecturers randomly drawn from University of Lagos and Lagos State University. A questionnaire instrument titled "Unstable Academic Calendar and Universities System Questionnaire (UACUSQ) was designed to collect relevant data for the study. The results from the study revealed that unstable academic calendar caused by ASUU strikes would have negative effect on senate activities, university budget, convocations and matriculation, admission exercise and students academic performance. It was therefore suggested that government should try to reduce or eliminate all factors that can bring about industrial conflicts in Nigerian Universities.
