Abstract:
Salami and Bello's study investigates the perception of lecturers and students on the use of negotiation, dialogue and consultation in crisis management in educational institutions in Nigeria. One hundred and fifty (150) participants consisting of 80 lecturers ( 60 males and 20 females ), and 70 students ( 52 males, 18 females ) randomly selected from four tertiary institutions were involved in the study. The samples were administered a questionaire on the use of dialogue, cosultation and negotiation in resolving crisis in tertiary institutions. The results revealed that the lecturers and teachers perceived that the use of negotiation, dialogue and consultation had significant impact on resolving educational crises in tertiary institutions. It was thus recommended that student unions and lecturer unions as well as the management should use the three conflict resolution techniques when they are involved in conflict.
