Experiences of Addis Ababa University in national graduate training and research

This chapter focuses on the various graduate training programmes that were offered at the Addis Ababa University (AAU), namely the Masters degree, medical residency programmes as well as the Phd degree. The author describes each level of postgraduate study and provides statistics that reflect sponsorship, the number of programmes offered and the number of graduates enrolled per faculty. A detailed discussion ensues which describes the strategies pursued in evolving graduate training programmes and the impact which these have had on the AAU.
