Abstract:
In this chapter, Bekele focuses on Addis Ababa University (AAU) with reference to its role in research and development. The processes involved in the formulation and approval of research and related projects are described. The working relationships between higher learning and government institutions are discussed which is followed by a summary of challenges and problematic areas that these bodies face. The chapter also contains the current research profile of the AAU and Bekele offers possible solutions to the key problems experienced by the university. In conclusion, he names the reasons responsible for the stagnation and non-development of science in Ethiopia.
