Reform of Mozambican higher education system through new funding mechanisms

Abstract:
The paper focuses on the Mozambican national funding mechanisms for higher education. The author discusses how the political context of Mozambique has affected its national policy on higher education. The second part of the paper concentrates on the finance mechanisms of the higher education system in Mozambique. A description of the ways in which higher education is financed is provided. Current developments and futures plans for the higher educations sector with specific reference to financing mechanisms are discussed in the third part of the paper. The author concludes with a discussion on how funding mechanisms for higher education were changed by the new Ministry for Higher Education, Science and Technology.
