The emergence of the East African Institute of Higher Education Studies and Development in Makerere University

The East African Institute of Higher Education Studies (EAIHESD), the only one of its kind in the East African Region, was established in October 2006 at Makerere University in the former Department of Higher Education. The article explains the rationale behind its formation, its focus, strategic objectives, structure, and the services offered. The new developments as well as challenges are highlighted.
