Conflict management and resolution skills for managers of tertiary education institutions: a training manual

Abstract:

This manual discusses conflict as a common occurence in academic and other institutions and attempts to meet the needs of managers in tertiary environments.  This volume is in two parts. Part I expounds on the nature of conflict and what can be done to prevent or minimise them. Among issues discussed include: the nature and sources of conflict, conflict prevention and methods of resolution as well as post-conflict issues aimed at preventing a re-occurrence of the particular conflict. Part II of this volume is devoted to the discussion of various models of negotiation.  Included in this volume are useful tips on conflict management and resolution.
